Denmark operates under a universal healthcare scheme, which enables its residents to have equal access to medical services. The public healthcare system in Denmark is free for all Danes and is paid for by the government through taxes. However, this is not the case with expats, so you will have to secure your own healthcare insurance prior to moving to the country. Private healthcare is reliable in Denmark, so you can be sure that you’ll have easy access to hospitals and medical practitioners. Although since the public healthcare services are the ones heavily accessed in the country, there are fewer private healthcare facilities, this number has been growing throughout the years so you won’t find it hard to avail of them.
Before leaving the country, ask your medical insurance provider if your policy is able to extend in Denmark. Otherwise, if it doesn’t cover you overseas then you may have to reach out to other providers. You may try to contact AXA Global Healthcare or Foyer Global Health.
Also, it's generally a good advice and often a much cheaper option to check what insurance packages are available in your own country and what coverage they offer in Denmark.
