  • Composition & Design - 1 to 30 June
Be it wilting tulips dramatically backlit from your bedroom window or an artful scene reminiscent of the Dutch Masters, for this month’s theme we want to see your most exquisite still life images. Here the key is to ensure the core elements of a photograph, light, form and texture, are captured meticulously. Take your skills one step further and add an emotive quality to your images. Close cropping can work nicely too, show us your pictures of inanimate objects.
  • Street Photography - 1 to 31 July
For this month we want to see you turn your lens towards the streets. One of the most popular genres within the medium today, great street photography is all about framing, imagination and an appreciation for the human condition. We want to see your best street photographs. Judges will reward single images which capture a chance encounter or a random incident within a public place, often offering a glimpse into human life.
  • Landscape - 1 to 31 August
Landscape has been a core subject in photography since the medium started. Be it through light, weather or more gradual seasonal changes, the great outdoors is constantly shifting making it a continual source of inspiration and interpretation. We want to see your photographs that embody the spirit of the outdoors. Your choice of subject matter can be large or small in scale, but must give a sense of the landscape you’re capturing.
  • Culture & Travel - 1 to 30 September
For this month we’re asking you to submit those images that have enriched and expanded your appreciation of the world and its people. Be it immersing in your local culture, marvelling at spectacular sights (near or far) or capturing a unique experience away from home, show us your best culture and travel photographs. Colour and an individual point of view is key here.
  • Wildlife & Nature - 1 to 31 October
Show us the best wildlife and nature images you’ve taken this year. From amazing animal portraits to critters in your back garden we want to see photographs that capture the beauty, drama, intensity and diversity of our natural world. Macro photographs or wide angle vistas are all welcome here.
  • Portraiture - 1 to 30 November
To create a good portrait gives the viewer a deeper insight to your sitter. Be it studio, candid or even a self-portrait we want to see your pictures of people that evoke, arrest and inspire. Injecting feeling and emotion are key to this month’s competition and a creative eye will also be rewarded
  • Open Call - 1 to 31 December
This month’s competition is an OPEN CALL! Every successful photographer has a distinct way of seeing the world and we want to see yours. Select up to three of your favourite images from the past year. Your entries can be any topic, style or subject matter but make sure your images standout and will catch the viewer’s imagination.
