What is the London Program?
The Mountbatten Program (formerly Mountbatten Institute) offers a career-defining program for young professionals looking to jump-start their career in a globally competitive business environment.
We welcome successful applicants to London, England every March and August and provide them with an internship in a leading organization, a postgraduate academic qualification and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and culture of London.
With 2,000 years of history, world-famous landmarks and a melting pot of nationalities, London is a truly global city, providing an unforgettable year. Whilst you are here we want to make sure that you have the time of your life whilst gaining invaluable professional development. Our hassle-free approach means we take care of the key elements during your year in an international city, including:

Living in London
Our Mountbatten Program Trainees often describe their 12 months in London as the 'best year' of their lives.
The Program provides rent-free accommodation for all our Trainees in central London and roommates from the Program. This shared accommodation is in easy reach of all that London has to offer and provides the opportunity for Trainees to make friends fast.

Outside of their internship and academic classes our Trainees like to explore the city and the rest of the UK and Europe, making the most of their #MountbattenLife. From museums to open air markets, trips to France, Amsterdam or Italy, they like to jam-pack their free time and create incredible memories.

Working in London
International experience elevates a resume so we work with leading organizations across London to provide full-time internship opportunities for our Trainees. You will be placed with your host organization for the full year and internships are offered across a range of sectors and in a number of departments.

Studying in London
To complement your international internship you will also study for a postgraduate academic qualification. We offer three courses for our Trainees to select from; Postgraduate Certificate in International Business, MA in Entrepreneurial Management or an MBA.
The MBA program also includes 14-weeks in Bangkok, following your year in London, to complete your study.

Who is the London Program for?
The Mountbatten London Program aims to transform the lives and careers of young professionals and recent graduates, helping them to jump-start their careers when they return home post-Program.
This is a cultural exchange program and Mountbatten Program are approved Tier 5 visa sponsors.
All Trainees must fulfil the following Tier 5 visa and Mountbatten Program eligibility requirements:
- Nationality
- Language
- Education background
- Work experience

Eligible Nationalities
If you are interested in applying for the London Program you must not be a citizen of a European Union (EU) or a European Economic Area (EEA) country.
Applicants must also not hold dual nationality with the UK.
The Program is open to all other nationalities.
United States applicants with "Permanent Resident" (Green Card) status or holders of dual nationality where one country is an EU country, outside of the UK, are advised to contact their local admissions office before applying.
Language requirements
All applicants must have highly proficient verbal and written English language skills to undertake both their placement and their academic course.
For candidates whose first language is not English, any of the following certificates or scores may be provided to serve as a guideline for proficiency to begin the application process:
- IELTS (academic) 6.5 overall with no less than 5.5 in any section
- TOEFL minimum 575 on paper-based and 90 on internet-based
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
- Cambridge Certificate Proficiency (CPE)
- Test of English for Educational Purposes (TEEP)
- GCSE English grade C or above
- Pearson Test score of 58 for English Academic or Level 5 General
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
Education background
Applicants must have:
- An undergraduate degree
- A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above, for those graduating from an American institute of higher education, or equivalent from your home country
Applications are also accepted from current university students, providing the applicant is scheduled to graduate before beginning the Mountbatten Program.
MBA applicants that have undertaken the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) are encouraged to include their score as part of their application.
Work experience
Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of three to six months full-time professional (office/administrative) work experience to fulfil eligibility requirements.
- Work experience can be accumulated in several positions, and may have been acquired before, during, and/or after relevant academic studies.
- Work experience must be related to one of the areas we offer placements in: Finance, Event Management, HR, IT, Law, Marketing/Communications or Non-Profit.
- Voluntary/unpaid work can count towards the required three to six months.
- Retail, restaurant, bar/pub work cannot be counted.

What the Mountbatten Program includes
If you are accepted onto the Program and placed with a host organization, the Mountbatten Program provides you with:
- Your sponsor documents for your UK visa
- Rent-free, serviced accommodation and utilities for 12 months
- A monthly living allowance of GBP £700
- Onsite support
If you are undertaking the MBA, Mountbatten Program also includes:
- Rent-free accommodation and utilities in Bangkok for 14 weeks
- Travel expenses on lecture days
- Lunch on seminar days
- Visa fees for Thailand
- Health insurance for Thailand
- Onsite support
Your living allowance
Each Trainee is paid a living allowance by Mountbatten Program during the 12 months in London. The Trainee living allowance is GBP £700 per month and is paid monthly in arrears. Accommodation is also included.
No salary or allowance is paid to Trainees by the host organizations.
