Overview

African Food and Peace Foundation is looking for an intern to advance the foundation’s online presence through the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of our website. The AFPF Internship program gives aspiring professionals the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of fundraising, marketing, event planning, and non-profit operations.  We also offer the unique opportunity to work within the international sector, investing in the empowerment of women and girls.

Details

Participants in our internship program also have the special opportunity to learn about nonprofit management, fundraising, and the international development that we support. As a small yet very established organization, AFPF interns have the ability to explore work in all departments and aspects of our foundation. Other projects may be assigned according to your skills and AFPF’s needs. These other projects might include website design, content archiving, and media database management.

Description of Ideal Candidate

Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with website design software (experience with Wix preferred but not exclusive)

  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Google Drive

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization

  • Ability to solve problems resourcefully, work independently, and switch tasks efficiently

  • Friendly, energetic, and positive work attitude

  • Interest in international development work and nonprofit management

Time Commitment: 

  • Minimum 10 hour/week commitment.
  • Must be able to work in person at our Boston office at least 2 days per week either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Cost/funding for participants

The internship will be unpaid in compliance with Department of Labor guidelines. We encourage you to use this internship to gain course credit and to seek out "work-study" grants with your college, if that is an option. We are somewhat flexible and are willing to tailor the internship to your interests if it is mutually beneficial.
