Social inclusion means having the resources, opportunities and capabilities to learn, work and engage equitably. It requires the removal of barriers and the enhancement of incentives to increase access to opportunities and the participation of diverse individuals and groups (regardless of gender, economic, geographic, ethnic and other factors).

Australia Awards seeks to ensure equal participation of women. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply and will be supported, where applicable, at all stages – including the application, scholarship and alumni stages.

Disability inclusion

Eligible people with disabilities, are encouraged to apply for a scholarship and disclose the nature of their impairment. Having a disability will not disadvantage individuals in the selection process. Applications will be equitably considered, and reasonable accommodation made, to ensure equal participation and access.
