Present your Bright SCIdea to our judges for a chance to win £5000. The competition is a great way to find out more about how to build a business, and to hopefully turn your Bright SCIdea into a winning pitch!
Details
The Bright SCIdea Challenge provides support for students at university (UK and International) to develop an innovative science-based idea into a business plan and to compete for a £5,000 prize.
SCI supports entrants in the competition by delivering free, exclusive training. Teams with the strongest business plan are invited to deliver their pitch to an expert panel of experienced, successful senior business people and innovators.

If you are a student at university (UK or International), you can register now. Please note, teams must comprise 3-4 team members, have a team name and a brief description.

Description of Ideal Candidate
This competition is designed for budding entrepreneurs to develop their business skills and pitch a scientific idea for a product or service that they believe could be commercialised to benefit society. Following completion of a business plan, shortlisted teams will go through to pitch their idea at our final at SCI in Belgrave Square, London.
Eligibility and guidelines:
- Teams must be made up of 3 - 4 university students - please note you must be affiliated with a University (UK or international) at the time of registering.
- Attending the training sessions will help you with your business plan
- Business plans are to be submitted following the training sessions on Friday 31 January 2025 12pm GMT (midday).
- The Bright SCIdea competition final will take place on 18th March 2025 - you must only apply if you are able to attend on this date.
