Overview
The Cambridge Trust offers scholarships for undergraduate students who pay the University composition fee at the Overseas rate.
Details
Full information about undergraduate study in Cambridge can be found on the University website.
Use the scholarship search to find the awards for which you may be eligible.
Awards Process
As the Trust receives an extremely large number of applications, your patience would be appreciated while waiting for a decision. The Trust’s awards period runs from March to the end of July and is an ongoing process throughout that period. The majority of our full awards are made in March. Some of our partner funded awards can take time, and sometimes when offers are declined we may be able to offer them elsewhere.
As long as you have applied by the funding deadline and have a conditional offer of admission for your course, you will be considered for any awards for which you are eligible.
Please note that due to the number of applications the Trust receives, it is not possible to notify unsuccessful applicants. Awardees will be notified as soon as is possible.
More information
Before making an application to the University, research thoroughly your chosen course of study (via the University website).
If you are a prospective student or offer holder, you can find advice and the answers to frequently asked questions on the University’s web pages
ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
With more than 18,000 students from all walks of life and all corners of the world, over 11,000 staff, 31 Colleges and 150 Departments, Faculties, Schools and other institutions, no two days are ever the same at the University of Cambridge.
At the heart of this confederation of Departments, Schools, Faculties and Colleges is a central administration team. It is small because the Colleges are self-governing and teaching staff carry out much of the daily administration at Cambridge.
Structure
The University is a confederation of Schools, Faculties, Departments and Colleges. The Colleges are governed by their own statutes and regulations, but are integral to the make-up of the University of Cambridge.
Colleges
Students live, eat and socialise in one of the University’s 31 autonomous Colleges. Undergraduates receive College supervisions – small group teaching sessions – regarded as one of the best teaching models in the world. Each College has its own internal procedures.
They select their own students, subject to University regulations, and most admit both undergraduate and postgraduate students. College representatives sit on the University Council and Finance Committee.
Schools
There are six Schools, which each form an administrative grouping of Faculties and other institutions. They are: Arts and Humanities, Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Technology. There is a Council of each School – including representatives of its Faculties and Departments. The Schools are represented on the General Board.
Faculties and Departments
University Faculties organise teaching and research into individual subjects or groups of subjects. Their work is normally organised into sub-divisions called Departments. Centres of studies are controlled by committees of management, bringing together representatives from several disciplines.

Eligibility

Description of Ideal Candidate
Nationality
All students, irrespective of nationality, are eligible to be considered for funding by the Trust.
Status
The Trust does not accept applications from students who are part-way through a course at Cambridge, unless they are applying for funding towards a higher degree course following graduation.
To find out more about your fee status, see information on the University's web pages for undergraduates and for postgraduates.
Degree level
Applicants must be intending to start a course at the level of:
- undergraduate (excluding UK applicants)
The Trust does not offer full-cost scholarships for MBA or MFin programmes. The Trust will consider co-funding students on MBA and MFin programmes who are nominated to us by funding partners (who may have their own procedures for applying).
Please note that the Trust does not offer many scholarships to students on undergraduate courses, and has many more scholarship programmes available to postgraduate students. Approximately 85% of the scholarships awarded each year are to students taking Masters or PhD degrees.
The Trust will not normally support students at a degree level that is the same as, or lower than, a degree they already hold, with two exceptions - we will consider an application from a student who is required to take a second Masters degree at Cambridge in order to gain admission to the PhD here, or from an international student who is proposing to study as an affiliated student at Cambridge for a second BA degree.
The Trust does not have scholarships available for post-doctoral positions, or for visiting or exchange students.
Most students register for full-time study, but, in the interests of widening participation, the Trust is able to consider applications from students for part-time study where such courses are offered by the University.
Subject
Applicants may study any subject currently available at the University.
Application and Admission
All students must be admitted to the University of Cambridge through the normal application procedures. The Trust plays no role in the admission of applicants to the University, and is not able to influence the chances of an applicant being offered a place.
The University sets minimum standards – check the requirements for undergraduatesand for postgraduates.
Also check the information on application deadlines for undergraduates and postgraduates.
Applicants are encouraged to meet the entry requirements of the University as early as possible, including (if necessary) the completion of an English language test. This will help to prevent the Trust from offering valuable scholarships to students who are ultimately unable to take up their places at Cambridge.
Please also read the Trust’s Information for undergraduate applicants or Information for postgraduate applicants.
Equality
The Trust is committed to equality of opportunity, and no applicant will be treated less favourably than another on the grounds of gender (including gender reassignment), marital or parental status, race, ethnic or national origin, colour, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age. The primary consideration in the selection of Scholars will be applicants' ability to meet the selection criteria for each scholarship.
Some scholarships which are fully or partially funded by partners of the Trust are allocated to students of particular nationalities or studying particular subjects.
