Overview
The Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD) is a public policy think-tank registered in Belgrade and New York. Its mission is to provide high-quality, independent analysis and offer innovative, practical recommendations with the aim of • strengthening peaceful cooperation between States and increasing responsiveness to changing global circumstances; encouraging a more inclusive and equitable international system; advocating sustainable development as the foundation of the UN post-2015 agenda. CIRSD is committed to help deepen the understanding of economic, social, environmental, and foreign and security policy choices of different States and organizations.
Details
Whether it ranged from in-office discussions about the politics of the day, to editing and fact-checking the articles of distinguished contributors from all over the world, it is without question that my time at CIRSD was fulfilling. Learning about the process of publishing a magazine, including the almost never-ending cycle of editing and re-editing texts, has been an eye-opening experience. It surely has increased my personal admiration for the editors and the CIRSD staff on a whole.

Apart from being introduced to writing, editing, and reviewing, I often provided administrative support, including word processing and data entry. I enjoyed every task I was given. This is in part because I felt appreciated by people at the Center for every little thing I did. Even though I found it slightly funny, it did not take long for me to recognize that the encouragement and support was exactly what I needed on my first real step into a professional world. Finally, the experience at CIRSD strengthened my desire to work for a think tank and, more importantly, showed me how crucial it is to work in a healthy and positive environment. Now that I am gone, I wish the experience had lasted a while longer. I remain hopeful, however, that once I start working I will find my place in an organization like CIRSD.
