Overview
Applications are open for the Ernst Mach-Grants (EMG) – ASEA-UNINET (formerly known as Technology Grants South-East Asia)!
Details
ASEA-UNINET supports the exchange of knowledge between partner universities in the member countries in Europe and South-East Asia (Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam). The main activity of the network is the organization and financial support of the exchange of scientists and postgraduates and the transfer of knowledge associated with this. The funding is organized by the OeAD-GmbH/ICM in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET (on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research – BMWF).
General Information:
- The grant programme is fully financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF).
- The selection process for all grants is competitive, i.e. there is no legal claim to a grant even if all application requirements are fulfilled. The number of grants that will be awarded during one call depends on the quota and/or the available budget. Applicants may apply for several grants at the same time.
- Applicants who seek admission to a university in Austria have to contact the Institution of their choice directly. Applicants who come to Austria to do research and, therefore, do not need to seek admission to university, have to prove sufficient knowledge of the language they need to pursue their project. The written consent of their Austrian supervisor is necessary.
- Short-term grants (1 to 3 months) have a priority in the period from January to June. In other cases Problems can arise as regards accommodation. When applying for a short-term grant therefore consideration should be given to applying primarily for the period of January to June.
- Grant holders must be present at their place of study in Austria to study or conduct their research project.
- Once an application has been rejected, it will not be considered any further within the call. However, it is possible to re-apply for this grant with a revised application in the future.
- Applicants must comply with the admission regulations of the respective university
Selection procedure:
Incomplete application and application not complying with the application criteria will not be accepted for the further selection process.
The selection is accomplished on-site by an international ASEA-UNINET expert commission. The selection follows a multistage process:
- Examination of the formal requirements
- Examination of the application's general plausibility.
- Assessment based on personal interview by ASEA-UNINET experts and on mandadory auditions (in case of an application in the field of music). In addition to language skills, another key criterion is the project's relevance to the development of the home country and/or its economy.
- Final decision by the BMBWF.
