Details

Are you a professional or student journalist looking to boost your career and expand your horizons? Do you want to discuss complex contemporary issues in a diverse academic setting? Are you eager to visit Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, the European Journalism Institute (EJI) is the program for you.

EJI provides a rigorous academic experience, fosters dialogues that cross borders and creates a global network of responsible future leaders.

EJI brings together journalism students and working journalists from a variety of professional backgrounds in Prague, Czech Republic. Participants from North America, Europe and Central Asia will explore fundamental issues related to journalism ethics, religious reporting, conflict reporting and business reporting. The diverse nationalities, religions and ethnicities represented at EJI gives participants the chance to interact, learn and share their experiences in ways that will benefit their educational and professional development.

CURRICULUM

TFAS and The Media Project co-host EJI to prepare young journalists for honorable leadership by equipping them with the tools to advance individual freedom, human achievement and personal responsibility through their life’s work.

The program contains four core academic components: conflict and religion reporting, journalism ethics, creating effective leads, and photojournalism. Through the week, guest speaker-led workshops supplement the faculty lectures on topics such as disinformation warfare from an intelligence perspective; how analytics supports journalism; and the impact of journalism and satire on youth. By delving into the life experiences and expertise of this diverse group of professionals, participants will survey best practices in the industry and how to navigate the social and political complexities of an ever-evolving media landscape. Participants will receive 1.5 ECTS credit hours from Anglo-American University upon successful completion of the program.

Over the course of the week, class time is interspersed with opportunities to visit famous sites in Prague and get to know the other participants better through organized social events. The range of nationalities, religions, and ethnicities represented at the program gives participants the chance to interact, learn and share their experiences in ways that can benefit their educational and professional development.
