Overview

Join us as an intern and try us out as an employer to find out for yourself what professional life is really like. Who or what is behind the giant Deutsche Telekom Group? Test your dream career in reality and decide whether it's really right for you.

Details

Let's say you want to buy a new car. You're standing in the dealership and your dream car is right in front of you. Do you sign the contract right there and then? No! No one buys a car without taking it for a test drive first. So why should students have to leave finding their all-important career to chance? Think of it this way; there are so many marketing campaigns and advertisements for new cars. But you can only know whether the driver's seat is comfortable or not by actually sitting in it. Every year more than 1,000 students swap the lecture hall for practical experience with us. And they like it. 91 percent of our interns could imagine staying on to work for Deutsche Telekom.

How long is an internship?
Internships at Deutsche Telekom can vary in length. It might be a four-week trial to test the waters, or a project assignment lasting up to a maximum of six months. Simply choose the option that works for you and your lifestyle. As the only company to offer Flexikum, it couldn't be easier. A Flexikum is a voluntary internship that lets the student put together a flexible working model together with their department.

Internship areas

We need lots of talented people in a whole range of fields. In IT, in marketing, in human resources, in product management, etc., etc., etc. – so it goes without saying that we also offer internships in all of these areas. And not just in Germany, but worldwide, too. Want variety? Why not take a look at our world of jobs?

Leading European Telco

Deutsche Telekom is one of the world's leading integrated telecommunications companies, with some 178 million mobile customers, 28 million fixed-network lines, and 20 million broadband lines.

We provide fixed-network/broadband, mobile communications, Internet, and IPTV products and services for consumers, and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for business and corporate customers.

Deutsche Telekom is present in more than 50 countries. With a staff of some 216,000 employees throughout the world, we generated revenue of 75,7 billion Euros in the 2018 financial year, about 66 percent of it outside Germany.*

So that we can continue to be successful, we are already evolving from a traditional telephone company into an entirely new kind of service company. Our core business, i.e., the operation and sale of networks and connections, remains the basis. But at the same time we are proactively committing to business areas that open up new growth opportunities for us.

More data, more speed

The gigabit society, in which high-speed Internet is taken for granted both at home and on the move, has fundamentally changed the way we communicate. Internet applications have long become an indispensable part of everyday life. We can download films from the Web, watch soccer games on our cell phones, send photographs and video files from our smartphones and share them with our friends via social networks. In technical terms, this means that ever greater volumes of data need to be transported at ever higher speeds.

A single source

This calls for a Telekom that brings all these elements together and offers customers a fixed network, mobile communications, and IPTV from a single source. And a Telekom that ensures secure storage and access to all private data, wherever the user may be and whatever type of device they are using.

But it also calls for ever more efficient networks. Deutsche Telekom can build these networks, which will not only cover skyrocketing demand for broadband in the future, but are also intelligent enough to open up new business areas to entire industries, such as the energy sector, healthcare, or the automotive industry. We are investing more in this than any other provider in Germany – more than 34 billion euros overall between 2010 and 2016.

Integrated solutions for business customers

With a footprint in more than 20 countries and some 38,000 employees (2018), T-Systems is one of the world’s leading providers of information and communications technology (ICT). T-Systemsoffers a range of integrated solutions for business customers, including the secure operation of legacy systems and classic ICT services, the transformation to cloud-based services (including tailored infrastructure, platforms and software) as well as new business models and innovation projects for the business fields of the future, such as data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and Industrial Internet.

T-Systems can provide all this thanks to its global reach in fixed-network and mobile communications, its highly secure data centers, a comprehensive cloud ecosystem built around standardized platforms and global partnerships, and the ability to offer top levels of security.

Sustainable on principle

We believe in the compatibility of economic, social, and ecological aspects and are committed to acting responsibly along our entire value chain.

Our network can do more than just connect people. It makes our lives safer, promotes equal opportunities, and helps reduce energy consumption and conserve resources. For example, we help our customers reduce their energy consumption and conserve resources with smart products and services like SmartHome solutions. We protect the climate by reducing our own electricity consumption, for example with highly efficient data centers. We promote media literacy with a wide range of projects and initiatives, thus enabling children, young people, and adults of all ages to deal competently and safely with new technologies. We act as partners in helping our suppliers become more sustainable and conduct thorough audits to make sure human rights are protected at their companies.
