We offer:

traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to The State of Kuwait, starting in mid-February 2025, subject to budget availability.

The Delegation of the European Union to Kuwait is responsible for the EU's political and economic relations with Kuwait. It also covers the wide range of areas of co-operation that exist between the EU and Kuwait, ranging from trade and investment, to energy, research and innovation, to security and counter-terrorism, to, culture and education, and to development cooperation.

A core function of the Delegation is promoting EU interests and values, raising awareness and making the EU and its policies known to the general public as well as the state and private sectors in Kuwait. It serves to enhance people-to-people relations and to build bridges between the Kuwaiti society and the citizens in Europe. In this context, the Delegation provides information on EU policies and cooperation programmes of interest to Kuwait. It is the EU point of contact for the Kuwaiti government agencies, the media, businesses, civil society and academic circles.

Main tasks:

  • Monitor local and regional press and media;
  • Support strategic communication on social media to enhance EU visibility;
  • Analyse political developments in The State of Kuwait;
  • Conduct research and draft background notes on specific topics;
  • Assist in political reporting;
  • Attend conferences and seminars upon request and report back;
  • Support organisation of public events and campaigns.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Applications currently residing in Kuwait (EU or Kuwaiti nationals) and holding a valid resident permit / visa will only be considered;
  • Communication skills, capacity and interest in social media and networking;
  • Excellent English language skills;
  • Knowledge of Arabic is required;
  • Excellent analytical and drafting skills;
  • Ability to handle politically sensitive issues in a responsible manner;
  • General knowledge of and interest in developments in the Gulf (in particular political, economic and human rights issues;
  • Team player skills and a proactive approach to task assignments.

Cost/funding for participants

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
