Overview

A key part of the GLOBSEC success story  is the fact that it grew out of a student project to become a major international forum. Youth engagement has always been an integral part  of our work and we continuously look for ways to strengthen that element. In 2013, the first GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum (GYLF) took place on the side-lines of the annual GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum. It provided young professionals with an opportunity to discuss current challenges in international affairs, improve policymaking skills and network with distinguished leaders and experts. The only well-established forum of its kind in Central Europe, GYLF has since grown to become one of the most prestigious meetings of young professionals and decision-makers in the world.

The applications for the GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum 2025 are now open! This flagship initiative offers a unique platform for emerging leaders to engage in high-level discussions, sharpen their policymaking skills, and connect with leading decision-makers. Join a dynamic network of global changemakers driving the future. Apply now and be part of this year’s cohort!

Details

GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum enables young professionals to participate in formal and informal discussions with high-profile politicians, decision makers, thought leaders and think-thankers. Participants also get to formulate strategic policy proposals and suggest plans for action through working groups focused on key issues discussed at the Forum. Over the course of its 6 editions, GYLF has welcomed over 180 participants from over 40 countries and from 140 leading institutions in the realm of politics, business and the non-governmental sector.

Legacy of Leadership

GLOBSEC’s own journey, from a student initiative to a globally recognized forum, is a testament to the power of young leaders. The GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum (GYLF) initiative was launched in 2013, building on the success of the 2012 Bratislava Young Atlanticist Summit, a European edition of the Atlantic Council’s Young Professionals Program. What began as an effort to strengthen transatlantic cooperation has grown into leading Central European platform connecting young professionals across public and private spheres globally.

Global Network: Alumni and Partners

Over the course of its 11 editions, GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum has welcomed 330 participants from 50+ countries and 160+ leading institutions across politics, business, and civil society. By joining GYLF, you gain more than just an opportunity to be part of the conversation - you become part of a lifelong network of leaders shaping the future.

Our selection process prioritizes diversity across three key areas. Firstly, though our geographical focus remains predominantly on Europe, we have successfully increased the presence of young leaders from North and Latin America, North Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia. Secondlythe breadth of expertise matches the key themes of the Forum and engages different kinds of perspectives from a wide variety of public, private and non-governmental sector institutions. And lastly, we are deeply committed to promoting gender equality and increasing female expert presence in policy debates and policy making. At last year’s Forum, 65% of GYLF participants were female.
