Job Description

The Active Ownership team is responsible for providing the GCIO with analysis of proxy recommendations and ESG analysis related to Group clients. This includes supporting voting decisions as required and reporting voting activities to GIMS/GHO according to the NFI Group process. The team also votes on assets held in GIAM funds or mandates managed on behalf of Third Party clients, as well as assets managed by other entities within the A&WM Business Unit, in accordance with specific Service Level Agreements and Company policies.

Additionally, the team provides input and proposals for improving Group Engagement Guidelines and supports their implementation. This involves planning, preparing, and submitting the yearly Engagement Campaign, executing it, and preparing engagement cases. The team coordinates the Task Force for meetings, including supporting documentation and minutes, and monitors and reports to the Engagement Committee. They are also involved in the development and implementation of an Engagement policy for assets held within GIAM funds or mandates managed on behalf of Third Party clients.

The ideal candidate will work on the following activities:

  • Support active ownership initiatives
  • Contribute to the analysis of the firm's proxy voting record
  • Support the administrative activities linked to the exercise of voting rights on behalf the clients
  • Review and record companies' status/disclosures on ESG topics of interest (climate, diversity, board independence, etc.)
  • Collect and write materials to support stock-specific engagement opportunities for PMs/funds
  • Help to collect and populate ESG comments under the manager research framework

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: Economics, Finance, Statistics, Law
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). The knowledge of a second language (French and/or German) will be considered a plus
  • Analytical, IT and quantitative skills
  • A basic but solid knowledge of financial markets, macroeconomics and accounting
  • Proficient in Office applications
