Overview

The Institute for European Studies (IES) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is an academic Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and a policy think tank that focuses on the European Union in an international setting. The Institute advances academic education and research in various disciplines, and provides services to policy-makers, scholars, stakeholders and the general public.

Details

The Brussels School of Governance regularly hosts interns in its research centres. For the following research centres, we welcome applications throughout the year, but we encourage applicants to contact us in October for an internship in the Spring semester, and in April for an internship in the Fall semester:

  • Migration, Diversity and Justice 
  • Environment, Economy and Energy 

Our Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy and our Centre for Digitalisation, Democracy and Innovation work with interns from the BSoG's current student body.

Description of Ideal Candidate

We welcome students who have recently obtained a BA degree, or are currently completing their MA studies. An internship position at the IES would be ideal for students from EU countries, who carrying out research for their MA thesis in a field close to the interests of IES research staff, or who are looking to investigate possibilities to further their research careers.
