ICC’s Commission on Arbitration and ADR is looking for an intern for a period of six months, starting in January 2025.

The ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, ICC Dispute Resolution Services’ unique think tank, plays a key role in enabling thought leadership in arbitration and ADR.  The Commission is currently looking for an intern who will benefit from unique insights and in-depth knowledge in international arbitration law and dispute resolution, for a period of six months starting in January 2025. 

The role 

Tasks include: 

  • Reading and analysing diverse working documents including draft reports and guides, and arbitral awards. 
  • Assisting in carrying out research on a wide range of topics in international commercial arbitration and dispute resolution including corruption, expedited procedures, artificial intelligence and ESG. 
  • Assisting in preparing conferences, background documents, briefing material (including transcripts), notes and articles.  
  • Drafting briefings for the Commission Secretariat and Delegates, as well as preparing and updating PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Attending the ICC International Court of Arbitration sessions with the opportunity to work with leading experts (practitioners, arbitrators, mediators and academics) in the field of international arbitration.  
  • Assisting in meetings of task forces/working groups and the Commission’s annual meetings.   
  • Providing back-office support to the Commission Project Officer. 
  • Assisting with communication and promotion of activities/events on social media.  
  • Assisting in the logistical preparation of hybrid/in-person meetings and/or events.

Requirements 

  • Knowledge of international dispute resolution in general and arbitration and ADR specifically 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
  • Advanced Excel Skills 
  • Professional English / Minimum level of French 
  • Organisation and communications skills 
  • Autonomous, dynamic, and proactive 
  • The candidate must be registered as a student during the time of the internship. Recent graduates who are no longer enrolled in an educational programme are therefore not eligible to undertake an internship at ICC.

Cost/funding for participants

Important information:

  • Nationals from outside the European Union or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Andorra, Monaco, or Switzerland should get an appropriate visa from the French consulate. Interns are also required to handle their own travel/accommodation arrangements for the duration of their stay. The ICC is not in a position to provide scholarships/fellowships. 
  • The 6-month internship programmes are full-time, and the average working week is 35 hours. 
  • The intern will receive a monthly gratification of about EUR 700 gross + meal vouchers + partial compensation (70%) of public transport costs.
