Overview
The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) is an independent non-profit think tank based in Berlin. Its mission is to improve global governance through research, policy advice and debate. GPPi runs a small, highly selective internship program for current students, or students between bachelors and masters degrees, interested in gaining first-hand experience in public policy research and consulting.

GPPi runs a small, highly selective internship program for current students, or students between bachelor’s and master’s degrees, interested in gaining first-hand experience in public policy research and consulting. Candidates who already have a graduate degree (master’s or equivalent) and are not currently enrolled at a university are not eligible to apply for our internship program.
We do our best to match the qualifications and interests of our interns with research, advisory and dialogue projects to which they can contribute most. Depending on their background and interests, GPPi interns will contribute to one or two of our issue areas:
- Humanitarian Action: not accepting applications at this time
- Rising Powers: accepting applications for January 2019 and beyond
- Innovation in Development: not accepting applications at this time
- Peace & Security: accepting applications for August 2018 and beyond
- Human Rights: accepting applications for September 2018 and beyond
- Data & Technology Politics: accepting applications for December 2018 and beyond
- Monitoring & Evaluation: not accepting applications at this time
- Communications (combined with another issue area): accepting applications for an immediate start

Candidates should be from:
Description of Ideal Candidate
Successful candidates must demonstrate:
- Strong analytical skills;
- An outstanding academic background in the social sciences, law, history, or a related field;
- An interest in and familiarity with the issues mentioned and the key players relevant to those issues;
- Exceptional writing ability, in particular in the English language (short-listed candidates will be asked to send a writing sample);
- A record of initiative, engagement and an entrepreneurial spirit;
- International experience outside of your home country is preferred;
- Good team fit.

Cost/funding for participants
- A monthly contribution to living expenses of 800 Euros for full-time internships (32−40 hours/week, your choice) for those not already receiving an internship stipend. For internships with less than 32 hours/week, the stipend is adjusted accordingly.
- Opportunities to contribute directly to a selection of our research, advisory and dialogue work, which may include the development of new projects;
- Support with developing new knowledge, skills and professional networks as well as mentoring and feedback.
