Overview
Spend your summer studying at Europe's largest summer school, right in the heart of London. Over 80 courses available over three sessions.
Details
The LSE Summer School has the world's largest intake of international study abroad undergraduates compared with other summer schools across the globe. Visiting students are often able to transfer credit from LSE's rigorously assessed summer courses towards degrees at their home institution.
The Summer School curriculum is drawn from across the university, with courses being offered in subjects as diverse as Accounting, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Law, and Business and Management.
Courses taught during the Summer School are based on regular LSE undergraduate courses, and taught to the same standards by leading LSE faculty. Lecturers are experts in their chosen fields and committed to teaching with academic rigour and contemporary relevance. Our faculty are actively involved in academic research and many act as advisers and consultants to companies and Government bodies.
Study in one of the world's most exciting cities
London is one of the most exciting and culturally-diverse cities in the world. Being a part of LSE Summer School will give you the opportunity to study and live centrally in one of the leading global cities in the world.
While the main focus of your time at LSE will be your studies, you will also have the chance to relax with your fellow students outside of class. An organised social programme will give you a chance to see some of the sights of London. Some of the events held in 2015 included trips to the theatre, walking tours all around London, day-trips to Cambridge and Oxford, and the ever-popular Thames river cruises.
Mix with students from all over the world
At LSE you will be given the chance to interact with students from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures, both in and out of class. You will be exposed to a variety of insights and opinions, and form friendships and networks that span the globe. In 2015 we welcomed students from the top universities around the world, including Harvard, Yale, Bocconi, Copenhagen Business School, EDHEC and many more.
While the majority of our students are undergraduate students, we also welcome a large number of postgraduate students and professionals each year. In 2015, over 500 professionals from a variety of fields attended the Summer School. Each year we welcome groups from organisations such as the Bank of England, the European Commission, Dutch Ministry of Finance, Bank of Italy and the United Nations.
Gain credit towards your degree
Institutions all over the world grant credit for Summer School courses. While ultimately it is up to your home institution as to how much credit is awarded, generally our courses are awarded 3 credits in the US system and 7.5 ECTS in the European system. For details, speak to your Study Abroad advisor.
Summer School 2025 will take place across the following dates:
- Session One: 23 June - 11 July
