This Erasmus Mundus MSc. Program will give you the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art knowledge and methods to understand, manipulate and design innovative industrial processes involving particles, drops and bubbles.

This programme has been jointly elaborated with internationnally ranked universities and industrial partners that are eager to propose you study cases and recruit you.

Overview

The programme spreads over two years, during which MULTIPHASE students will visit three universities:

  • one semester in Mines Saint-Etienne (France)
  • one semester in Politecnico di Torino (Italy)
  • one semester in Technische Universität München (Germany)

Two winter schools and an 18 months-long project driven by industrial partners are also offered.

The fourth semester is devoted to an internship with MSc thesis, in industry or academia.

Diploma delivered

Successful students will receive following diploma:

  • MSc in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering delivered by IMT – Mines Saint-Etienne
  • Laurea Magistrale (Master of science-level) in Chemical and Sustainable Processes Engineering, Chemical Engineering degree class delivered by Politecnico di Torino
  • MSc. In Materials Science and Engineering delivered by Technische Universität München

Careers

On completion of the MULTIPHASE programme, successfull students will have the choice to:

  • join industry as a product engineer, process engineer, R&D engineer, R&D project manager, …
  • create a start-up to fill the gap in a specific area
  • engage in a PhD in order to deepen the expertise and, ultimately, join industry as expert or embrace an academic career
  • contribute to public offices (state or NGOs) as a consultant or advisor

Entry Requirements

Scientific and technical background

The recommended entry profile is a BSc in Chemical Engineering.

However, the Selection Committee will also consider applications from students with a Bachelor degree (or 180 ECTS equivalent) in :

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computational Engineering

Graduation must take place before 31 July for non European students and before 30 September for European students.

English proficiency

As the programme is completely taught in English, applicants must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. A level B2 or better in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required.

A proof of proficiency must be given. A candidate will be declared eligible in following cases:

  • you are a native English speaker (a declaration on the honor is enough during application)
  • you completed your studies in one of the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, English-speaking Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Republic of Ireland, Jamaica, Kiribati, Liberia, Mauritius, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America, Zambia or Zimbabwe
  • your previous (current) university education has been conducted in English. In this case you need an official certificate from your university confirming that the language of tuition was English.
  • You provide an English test score not older than 3 years with one of the following tests (no other test is recognized) and score:
    • TOEFL iBT: 88, CbT: 234, PbT: 605, TOEFL ITP is not accepted. If you send TOEFL to us via ETS, please use the following TOEFL code: University 7806, department 99 (“any department not listed”).
    • Cambridge B2 First Test: 173 or higher
    • Cambridge C1 Advanced Test: 160 or higher
    • Cambridge Certificates Cambridge Main Suite: CAE or CPE: level A, B or C

    • TOEIC: 800
    • Pearson English Language Test PTE Academic with an Overall Score of at least 65 points

In cases where it is not possible to provide proof of language qualification at the submission date, applications will still be accepted but any offer of a place on the programme or of a scholarship will be conditional until the test result is received & verified by Admissions.
