Overview

MaMaSELF is a two-year international Master course in Materials Science fully taught in English, delivering multiple Master degree, and recognized as European formation of excellence in this field since 2007.

The joint programme covers fundamentals of Materials (structure and dynamics of condensed matter, and chemical, mechanical and physical properties of materials).

MaMaSELF+ also proposes focus on energy related applications (energy conversion, storage and efficiency, nanomaterials, geomaterials, smart materials).

One specific aim of the Mamaself program is to explain the application of "Large scale facilities" for the characterisation and development of materials.

Details

Modern life and globalization imply new and additional exigencies for scientists and scientific engineers in the field of scientific and industrial competitiveness.

This holds specifically for the development of new technologies and new materials which are important key-products and which contribute to the technological and scientific competitiveness of highly industrialized countries. The characterization of these materials and also the optimizing of technologies strongly demand sophisticated methods, some of them uniquely available at “Large Scale Facilities” using neutrons or synchrotron radiation. The Master Course is supported by the European Commission in the framework of the Easmus Mundus program.

What is the Erasmus Mundus program?

The Erasmus Mundus program is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education build in the framework of the Erasmus+ program. It aims to enhance quality in European higher education and to promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third countries.

The programme is intended to strengthen European co-operation and international links in higher education by supporting high-quality European Masters Courses, enabling students from around the world to engage in postgraduate study at European higher education institutions, as well as encouraging the outgoing mobility of European students and scholars towards third countries.

Content of the program

Prospective students from any country are invited to apply to participate in an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course, provided they have obtained a first degree awarded by a higher education institution.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses are high-quality study programmes at masters level offered by a consortium of at least three European higher education institutions. They last between one and two years and lead to the award of a recognised double, joint or multiple degree. Students have to study in at least two institutions.

The European Erasmus- Mundus programme stands for the promotion of the european Union as a centre of Excellence in the field of higher education. It strongly supports high-quality Master Courses to enhance the attractiveness of european higher education all around the world.

Following an information from the European commission, please notice that  the number of  applications to Erasmus Mundus scholarships is limited to three Erasmus Mundus Master Courses per student. In case of a candidate applying to more than three Erasmus Mundus grants he will be excluded by the European Agency from all Erasmus Mundus Scholarships.
