Overview

The McCourt School’s rigorous quantitative-focused curriculum sets our graduates apart from their peers on day one. They are characterized by the level of their critical thinking as well as their substantive knowledge of key issues and approaches to policy analysis. The McCourt School’s mission is to give its students the rigorous quantitative and analytic skills needed to design, implement and evaluate smart policies in the U.S. and around the world.

McCourt Scholars

The McCourt Scholars are a select group of promising future policy makers and scholars whose background, experience, and academic excellence qualify them for this prestigious award. Each year, five incoming students are nominated as McCourt Scholars based on the strength of their applications to the McCourt School.

  • All full-time MPP, MIDP, and MS-DSPP students are eligible to be considered for the McCourt Scholars program, and no additional application is required.
  • The Scholar award includes full tuition, mandatory fees, a stipend, and health insurance.

Merit-Based Scholarships

The McCourt School offers merit-based scholarship funding, as well as graduate assistantships.

  • All MPM, MIDP, MS-DSPP, and MPP students are eligible to be considered for merit-based assistance, and no additional application is required.
  • Awards are based on a candidate’s grades, test scores, professional experience, and overall strength of application. 
  • Scholarship notification is sent in the same letter as the admissions notification.
  • Part-time MPP and MPM students may apply for the Bryce Harlow Fellowship program.

Description of Ideal Candidate

All applicants to The McCourt School are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

TOEFL: Score report with a minimum score of approximately 600 (paper-based test) or approximately 100 (internet test). (Minimum of 22 on each individual section.)

IELTS: Score report with a minimum score of 7.0.

The TOEFL and IELTS scores must be received directly from the testing organization

If the primary language of instruction of your undergraduate or graduate institution is English you do not need to submit a TOEFL/IELTS score.
