Founded in 1936, NHH is the preeminent business school in Norway, the first choice for Norwegian students and the business community. NHH has close to 3,500 full-time students.
Most of our students start at the Bachelor level and go on to one of the specialised Master of Science (MSC) options at NHH. Other programmes include doctoral programmes in accounting, economics, finance, management science and strategy and management. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Master of Science (MSc) or comparable degree relevant for your specialisation (e.g. MSc in Economics and Business Administration, Social Sciences, Psychology, Philosophy, Mathematics, Engineering, Industry, Management, Law). Applicants must normally have completed a 5-year master’s degree programme.
- Minimum B (4) in Grade Point Average (GPA), five-point scale (A=five, B=four, C=three, D=two, E=one).
- Minimum B (4) on your master thesis.
An adequate level of academic and English language proficiency. This may require specific documentation by proficiency tests.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

- Certificate of a Master of Science degree or equivalent including transcripts of grades.

- Statement of purpose describing your motivation for applying this position (250-300 words).

A summary of your planned research project must describe the aims, objectives, research questions, and elaborate on your motivation for pursuing the proposed area of research. Please note that your research project is tentative and often needs adjustments after acceptance into the programme

As a PhD Research Scholar you will be a member of our faculty. You will be working closely with leading professors in your field, who have a significant impact on government policies, business practice and academic thought. You will be included in a thriving intellectual community, which enjoys a close collaboration with leading business schools worldwide.
The purpose of our three or four year, fully funded programme, is to give the scholar a deepened and broadened theoretical and methodological knowledge, alongside the experience of producing a substantial piece of original scientific work.
The doctoral education includes training, including course participation combined with carrying out independent research.
The conferral of the PhD in economics and business administration signifies expertise in a major field of study.
The majority of our PhD graduates develop an academic career, but an increasing number take on leading positions in management, consultancy or in larger organisations.
