Overview
The NIBS Worldwide Business Plan Competition aims to stimulate global entrepreneurship among students at NIBS member institutions. Participants are challenged to conceive of a viable new product or service or to improve an existing product or service, and then prepare a business plan and video aimed at convincing potential investors to invest in the business.
Details
By participating in the Competition, students will gain experience and skills which can be used to enrich their CV’s and ultimately their graduate employability:
- identifying business opportunities, developing a business model, and writing a formal business plan;
- performing market research and feasibility studies using primary and/or secondary data;
- pitching their idea to an international panel of business professionals and academics who will provide expert feedback;
- developing communicational and organizational skills;
- working as part of a team.
What do you need to know about registration?
- Complete a quick registration process by 24 January, 2025, we just need to know the name of your university, how many teams will enter, and the contact details of the team coach. A maximum number of two teams can enter from a university, students must be currently registered on an undergraduate or postgraduate course, and the team composition can be a minimum of two students and a maximum of five students. Regrettably, we cannot welcome back any students who have previously taken part in the competition.
- Pay the registration fee of €150 per team by card via the NIBS Store or request an invoice, by 24 January 2025. The registration fee could be as low as €30 per student which is excellent value to take part in a quality international competition.

Student Eligibility
The Competition is open to any student registered, for the duration of the Competition, in an undergraduate (bachelor level or equivalent) business program (commerce, administration, management, etc.) at any member institution of the Network of International Business Schools or through special invitation made by the host institution and the NIBS Board. Students on exchange at a member institution for the entire academic year may compete for that member institution, provided they meet other eligibility requirements. Individuals who have previously participated in the Competition may not enter again.
NOTE: To be eligible, a student must NOT have completed his/her degree requirements by the time the Final Round of the Competition is held (typically in May).

Cost/funding for participants
NIBS have a bumper cash prize pot of €2,600 available for student teams to win and all students will receive a certificate of participation in the NIBS Worldwide Business Plan Competition. All winning teams will be showcased on the NIBS Linkedin account and NIBS website. This competition can be completed 100% virtually and to fit students schedules, there is no travel requirement, which is good for the budget and the planet!
