Overview

At One Policy Place we believe complex EU information can be simplified. We do this by bringing together all the latest EU policy developments in climate change, energy, and environment into one place and enabling you to create your own personalised Policy Newsfeed. We’re in our sixth year of business and growing rapidly in terms of client base, personnel, and services. We work hard to deliver for our clients (something you’ll enjoy doing with us). Our clients include global corporations, global consultancies, global and European trade associations, NGOs, think tanks and high-profile academic institutions.

Details

As a Policy Intern with a focus on EU policy, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of work as part of a growing business. You’ll have perfect written English as we produce written summaries of policy debates in almost real-time. Attention to detail and being organised are critical. You won’t turn up late to work – we start each day with a team meeting ensuring we are all on top of our brief. This won’t be the first time you have done paid work.

You’ll already have a strong knowledge of the EU legislative process and previous workplace skills and experience are essential. How you learn rather than what you can memorise is most important for life at OPP.

What you’ll do

You’ll be trained how to monitor (and eventually analyse) EU policy on a daily basis to keep our clients informed of legislative developments as they happen. Real-time monitoring requires grit and determination as well as a love of policy. You’ll be keen to read policy documents on a daily basis.

We’ll also train you to write concise summaries of policy debates. However, you will bring with you native-level English written skills.

Your working environment

You’ll be based in a house full of people working in the industry where you’re able to see the European Parliament. When you are not in the office, you’ll be out networking in the Brussels bubble, attending events, and inviting people over for coffee. You’ll need a mature approach to work as you’ll enjoy the concept of self-management and strive to consistently exceed expectations. We’ll all support you every step of the way.

Have you got what it takes?

If you have read this and ticked every box you should be a high achiever. Top interns at OPP now have full-time jobs with us – some are now clients. If you think you have what it takes you’ll find the application procedure below.

  • Start date: TBC
  • Duration: 9 months

How to apply: Please upload your CV and include in no more than 150 words the reasons why you should be invited for an interview. You’ll also take part in our assessment centre (this takes 30 minutes). If successful the next stage is a one hour written simulation of work you’d carry out at OPP. Successful candidates are then invited to interview. Even if you are unsuccessful all candidates will receive a response at the conclusion of the recruitment process. We welcome speculative applications throughout the year.

Description of Ideal Candidate

You must be eligible to work in the EU as of January 2021.

Skills you’ll demonstrate
