How do I apply?

1. You must make an application to the University of Oxford for an undergraduate course through UCAS by 15 October 2024, and be successful in gaining a place.
2. If you have been offered a place at the University of Oxford for an undergraduate course for 2025 entry, you should apply online by 12 noon (UK time) on 12 February 2025. Applications for these scholarships will open on 15 January 2025.
3. For 2025 entry applicants who apply by the 12 February 2025 scholarship deadline, the selection process will be undertaken in April 2025. 
4. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the end of June 2025. 

Further information

• All applicants will be asked to make a loan application to Student Finance to ensure that they have sufficient access to funding to support their studies at Oxford in the event that their scholarship application is unsuccessful. If an applicant does not wish to make an application to Student Finance they should state the reason for this at the time of request. If an applicant is successful in their scholarship application it is their responsibility to cancel their Student Finance loans.
• Scholars will be expected to write a report at the end of their first Michaelmas Term as well as an annual report about their academic and social activities, and achievements at the University.
• Receipt of the award in subsequent years is subject to satisfactory academic progress which will be monitored through your termly supervisor reports.
• Scholars are permitted to hold a scholarship award in conjunction with Oxford’s Bursary support. Awards may be offered in conjunction with other sources of funding, although this will be taken into account when determining the value of the award.

OXFORD UNIVERSITY

As the oldest university in the English-speaking world, Oxford is a unique and historic institution. There is no clear date of foundation, but teaching existed at Oxford in some form in 1096 and developed rapidly from 1167, when Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris.

Oxford has a distinctive collegiate structure. Students and academics benefit from belonging both to the University, a large, internationally-renowned institution, and to a college or hall, a small, interdisciplinary academic community.

The colleges and halls

There are 38 Oxford colleges, which are financially independent and self-governing, but relate to the central University in a kind of federal system. There are also six permanent private halls, which are similar to colleges except that they tend to be smaller, and were founded by particular Christian denominations. The colleges and halls are close academic communities, which bring together students and researchers from different disciplines, cultures and countries. This helps to foster the outstanding research achievement that has made Oxford a leader in so many fields.

The colleges and the University work together to organise teaching and research, and many staff at Oxford will hold both a college and a University post.
