Programme

The Young Muslim Leadership Programme was initiated in 2006 in cooperation with The Prince's Charities. The focus of the programme is on the national role and contribution of Muslim communities in Britain. It consists of workshops, seminars, and visits to prominent national institutions. Guest speakers are drawn from Parliament, academia, non-governmental organizations, the civil service, and the media. There are opportunities for networking and social interaction which facilitate contacts and potentially lifelong friendships among participants. The Young Muslim Leadership Programme is an invaluable forum for young British Muslims with strong leadership potential to come together and consider key issues affecting British society.

Applications for the YMLP 2025 are now open.

The twentieth Young Muslim Leadership Programme (YMLP) will be held this year between Saturday 19th July and Sunday 27th July 2025.

To apply to the YMLP 2025, please complete an online application form and attach the following documents (or arrange for them to be forwarded to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies by the deadline):

a. A personal statement of not more than 750 words that includes:

• Your objectives in applying for YMLP
• Previous experience (gained, for example, from volunteering, education or employment) and personal qualities that make you a strong candidate for this programme.
• How your participation in this programme will benefit your career
• How your participation in this programme will benefit your community

b. Two confidential letters of recommendation from referees who can assess your potential. These must be sent directly to YMLP@oxcis.ac.uk by your referees.
