Your Role:

  • Support the team during the preparation and execution of high impact negotiations in cooperation with Procurement Commodity Managers and Procurement Engineers

  • The organization of negotiation trainings and support in the continuous improvement of the training material 

You are a part of

A small team of negotiation experts within Philips Procurement set up to support commodity managers globally in high-impact negotiations. We are an internal consultancy with an entrepreneurial spirit and the mission to enrich strategic decision-making. We focus on optimizing competitive negotiations while applying Game and Auction Theory, but we are constantly developing new concepts to support all negotiation types end-to-end. We work within cross-functional project teams and analyze & strategize to develop the optimal award mechanism design. In addition to hands-on negotiations, we develop and execute training and coaching programs for Philips Procurement. In short, our activities are a mix of strategy consulting, data analytics, and project management, and the intern will gain deep insights and hands-on experience in an innovative, highly efficient approach to doing business in Procurement.

Description of Ideal Candidate

You’re the right fit if:

We are looking for interns passionate about continuous learning and challenging the status quo, love solving complex problems and are enthusiastic about Game Theory and negotiations.

  • Student in Economics, Econometrics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Math, Psychology, or related studies

  • Analytical, strategic, and abstract thinking

  • Knowledge of negotiations and Microeconomics, including Game Theory and Mechanism Design

  • Independent, reliable, and organized way of working

  • Great communication skills and MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) skills

  • Fluent in oral and written English

  • Preferred: Availability for 6 months

Cost/funding for participants

In return we offer you:

  • Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.

  • Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord, and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours.

  • Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €145,- net

  • Paid holidays per internship term.

  • The opportunity to buy Philips equipment at our Philips shop
