Overview

The Volkswagen Group is bundling its global battery activities in the European company (SE) PowerCo. Headquartered in Salzgitter, the company will manage international factory operations, the continuous development of cell technology, the vertical integration of the value chain and the supply of machinery and equipment to the factories. Looking ahead, further products, such as major energy grid storage systems, are planned. Since its launch in July 2022, PowerCo has already expanded to three gigafactory locations: Salzgitter in Germany, Valencia in Spain and St. Thomas in Canada. The company plans to set up cell factories with a total capacity of 240 GWh/year in 2030.

The mission has started. We proudly announce that in our Battery Valley we are starting our own battery cell production and the ramp up of our worldwide headquarters for global cell manufacturing. In this, the tasks and requirements of operations are varied. Operations takes care of all production related activities within the battery cell production. Our responsibilities vary from planning, constructing and rolling out the forthcoming battery cell factories. Furthermore, planning and implementing operating functions such as logistics, quality, production and plant management is also key elements within the area of operations. 

How you will CELLebrate

  • Supporting the Ramp-Up of a battery cell factory in a Task-Force for HSE and fire protection topics
  • Development and implementation of potential solution proposals for challenges of various projects within Operations
  • Cross-functional alignment of multiple topics and development of cross-functional relationships within Operations
  • Preparating of global standards and guidelines

Description of Ideal Candidate

What you need for our CELLebration

  • Current engineering studies in the field of logistics, economics, safety engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields
  • Very good language skills in German and English
  • Teamwork, commitment and problem solving skills
  • Confident handling of MS-Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Interest in the battery industry and the wish to support and help shape the largest battery project in Europe  

What else can you bring 

  • Battery experience
  • Experience in working in a task force and/or automotive industry
  • Studies with specialization in fire protection, safety or enviroment
