SUFONAMA - Erasmus Mundus MSc in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) is a two-year worldclass integrated programme aimed at qualifying graduates for dealing with the enormous challenges in sustainable management of natural resources, namely the challenge of management of forests and nature areas in an integrated landscape context. This degree programme qualifies the student for an international career in sustainable forest and nature management as well as in the areas of environmental protection and conservation.

Admission requirements for the academic year 2021/22

Admission to the Master’s programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) requires the completion of a qualifying bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from a recognised/accredited university. If you have completed or are in your final semester of a relevant Bachelor’s degree programme you are eligible to apply for the SUFONAMA programme.

Qualifying Bachelor’s degrees include Agriculture, Biology, Forestry, Geography and Geoinformatics, Natural Resources, Agrobiology or Landscape Engineering – or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree.

The SUFONAMA admission committee assesses all applications individually based on its academic content. You can only get an answer to whether or not your degree meets the admission requirements by applying for admission to the programme. The committee does not offer pre-application eligibility assessments of potential applicants' qualifications.

Language requirements

To gain admission to an MSc in the English language, all applicants must document English proficiency.

We accept the following 3 ways of documenting the level of language proficiency:

1) English is your native language

Consequently, if you are from the following countries, you do not need to present an English Language Proficiency exam. A copy of your passport will suffice:

• Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Barbuda, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grand Cayman Islands, Grenada, Guyana, Irish Republic, Jamaica, Montserrat, New Zealand, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands, United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, & Wales and United States of America.

2) You have studied a full degree in English

Studies on university level completed in the English language and/or in an English speaking country. For example, if you have studied your bachelor’s degree in Australia, you are not required to complete an English language proficiency exam. We ask such students to provide a signed statement from the Educational institution (with the institution's stamp on it) stating that English is the main language of instruction of your Bachelor degree. A student exchange semester/year will not exempt you from the language test requirement.

3) English is your second language (English proficiency)

If English is your second language you must:

• Either pass an IELTS Academic, TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced English or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) test.
• Or document that you have passed Danish secondary school 'English level B' (Engelsk B).

Erasmus Mundus student scholarship

Partner Country Scholarships (Only for Non-EU students)

These scholarships can be awarded to masters students from all countries other than the EU member states and EEA/EFTA states:

Turkey, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway. Furthermore, you must comply with a 12 months rule: i.e you must not be a resident nor have carried out your main activity (studies, work etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.

To be eligible for evaluation your application for a student scholarship must include a certificate – i.e. an official document – verifying your place of residence.

This can either be:

• In the form of a residence certificate issued (signed and stamped) in accordance with your municipality, region or state’s normal registration rules
• In the form of an official letter (signed and stamped) by your current place of work, study or training confirming your current occupation/activity and place of residence.
• In the form of an invoice, which clearly states the date, name and complete address.

Neither of these documents can be more than 12 months old calculated backwards as from the submission deadline.

The verification of residence is to be submitted as part of your application for admission and student scholarship. Without this document you application for a student scholarship will be incomplete and regarded as ineligible.

Please note that contribution to subsistence costs must:

• niether be given to scholarship holders for the EMJMD periods (study/research/placement/thesis/preparation) spent in their country of residence.
• nor to scholarship holders from a Partner Country for the EMJMD periods exceeding three months (indicatively the equivalent of 15 ECTS credits) spent in any Partner Country.
