Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship was established in 2006 with the aims to enhance the development of international student education in Shanghai and encourage more and more outstanding international students and scholars to ECNU.

Target Group
Shanghai Government Scholarship is for the excellent international students who apply for the undergraduate, graduate or PhD program at East China Normal University. Applicants for the undergraduate program without a qualified HSK level can apply for a one-year pre-college program to study Chinese with full scholarship sponsored. If the applicant still cannot achieve the qualified HSK level after the pre-college program, the applicant will graduate as a language student.

Application Candidate
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health. Well performed both academically and behaviorally.
Degree Requirement
Applicants for master's program must have bachelor's degree and be under 35.
Language Requirement
Chinese-taught programs applicants should have HSK Level 5 over 180 or HSK Level 6 over 180 (details refer to the application guide).
English-taught programs applicants should have effective English Proficiency Test Certificate or official proof of taking English-taught programs (details refer to the application guide). Native English speakers do not need to submit the English Certificate.

Exempt from tuition fee and school accommodation fee.

Stipend: Master 3000RMB/month
Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their host university each month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. Graduating students will receive stipend until half month after the graduation date. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days in one month due to personal reasons (school holidays excluded), monthly stipend will be stopped during the leaving month(s).
