Overview

The AMA+ (Art Major Asian plus Scholarship) Project is a global initiative undertaken by Korea National University of Arts with the goal of educating students for spreading Asian arts to the world as a global educational leader by promoting artistic elites development with the full scholarship grants. This project is an artist human resource development program, promoting development of genuine artists and enhancement of art education of developing countries in order to establish the center of cultural artists and a foundation of international art educational institution.

The objective of the Art Major Asian (AMA) Scholarship Program is to provide Asian students with artistic talent to conduct advanced studies and ability in Korea National University of Arts in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the countries.

Description of Ideal Candidate

Qualification

1) Nationality Requirement: only who holds citizenship of OECD DAC Recipient Countries both applicant and his/her parents can apply.

2) Academic Requirement: Applicants must have completed or be expected to have completed secondary education or bachelor degree program prior to admission to K-Arts.

Applicants who apply for the bachelor’s program must hold high school diploma. Students from a country with fewer than 12 years of preliminary and secondary school education will be considered eligible if they have completed an educational program recognized by the Korean Ministry of Education as being equivalent to high school graduates.

Applicants who apply for the master’s program must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree.

Applicants expecting to graduate by 28th Feb 2025 must submit a certificate of expectant graduation when applying, and submit the official certificate of graduation(degree or diploma) to K-Arts no later than 28th Feb 2025.

Applicants expecting to graduate by 28th Feb. 2025 needs to prove that they are subject to exemption for Korean Language training, holding TOPIK level 5 or above. Otherwise all final grantees need to join Korean Language training starting from September 2024.

3) Language Requirement: Applicants need to meet the required Korean proficiency level that each department sets when applying. Valid TOPIK score is necessary but when it is not possible to submit the valid test score, its equivalent such as certificate of course completion issued by King Sejong Institute or certificate by a Korean language institute run by Korean universities issued within 2 years will also be considered.

Applicants who passed document screening is subject to take Korean Language Test run by K-Arts, however its result will only be referred as complementary material and will NOT substitute TOPIK score.

4) Artistic Talent: KK-Arts has very practical and comprehensive major curriculum to raise professional artists. Therefore, applicants must meet the required skills and talents through the submission of portfolios as required by each department/major unless written as “portfolio not required”.

5) Entry to Korea: Final Grantees are scheduled to arrive in Korea and take Korean language training before joining degree program unless he/she already holds TOPIK level 5 or 6. All grantees are expected to enter Korea by the end of August 2024 while TOPIK level 5~6 holders are exempted to join language training..

Scholarship Benefits 

  • Airfare: The grantees will receive an airplane ticket between their country and Korea economy class, for entrance and graduation
  • Monthly Allowance: 800,000 KRW per month
  • Korean Language Training: 6-month intensive language training before entrance
  • Tuitions: Full coverage(regular semesters only)
  • Settlement Allowance: 200,000 KRW for first entry to Korea
  • Graduation Thesis Allowance: Upto 1,000,000 KRW
