Overview
The University of Gibraltar hosts or directly offers a number of scholarship programmes to support your studies. Scholarships are available to support undergraduate, Master’s degree and PhD programmes and are made available to students based on certain criteria.
Details
The purpose of the scholarship is to enhance individual teaching and research capacity leading to increased institutional capacity in academic and other sectors in Commonwealth countries and to contribute to Gibraltar’s higher education and research by attracting international candidates and encouraging links and collaboration.
The Selection Panel, will include representatives from the University, representatives of any sponsoring/associated body as required and typically at least one external/ independent member with relevant experience. The Selection Panel will choose all successful candidates and decide on the award.Criteria taken into consideration will involve both academic qualifications and personal achievement. The Selection Panel’s decisions will be final.
How to apply
University of Gibraltar scholarships are available via the online application for the respective course. The student must specify if they wish to apply for one of the available scholarships on their personal statement.Once their respective online application has been reviewed by the admissions team and the student receives an offer for their chosen programme they will be able to apply for their scholarship of choice. The student will need to complete a scholarship application which will include additional questions and information not included in the respective course application. Parasol Scholarship applications are made directly via the University. The student must specify they wish to apply for the Parasol Scholarship on their personal statement. Once their respective online application has been reviewed by the admissions team and the student meets the minimum entry requirements for the BBA they will be invited to apply. Government of Gibraltar scholarship applications are via the Department of Education, 23 Queensway, Gibraltar.

Please use this number in all future correspondence with the University. Note that the allocation of your identification number should not be taken as an offer of a place.
Application – Enrolment to our classes is on a first-come, first-served basis, and late applications will only be accepted if vacancies are still available. Please note that some courses may be subject to minimum numbers being met. Note this is not applicable for any PGCE applications, for further information on how to apply for our PGCE please see programme page.
You can submit your application for early processing even if incomplete (e.g. awaiting examination results), but an offer cannot be made until we have received all documentation.

Admissions Committee – Your initial submission will be reviewed by an admissions committee. If your application satisfies the requirements stipulated by the University of Gibraltar you will receive an offer by email.
If your submission does not satisfy the entrance requirements you will be informed of the reasons for the decision as well as receive advice regarding what further qualifications or experience you require to become eligible.
Finally – Your application will be processed by the University of Gibraltar’s admissions team. If your application is successful, you will receive an offer via email.

Description of Ideal Candidate
The scholarship is intended for high-quality graduates who have the potential to become influential leaders, teachers, or researchers in their home countries, and whose proposed research topic has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the selection committee to have a developmental and leadership focus.
All international fee paying students are encouraged to apply for Europa Scholarships and Europa Bursaries. In certain limited cases and for exceptional students applications from Home/ EU students may also be considered for these scholarships.

Europa Scholarships
Europa Scholarships are prestigious scholarships which are competitive and awarded for academic excellence. Europa Scholarships are open to all international* students and are worth a maximum of £6,000 per annum. They are available for each year of a student’s study programme, subject to continuing good academic performance and satisfactory progress. Students are encouraged to apply at the time of submitting their application to study.
Europa Bursaries
Europa Bursaries are competitive and awarded for merit, based on extra-curricular activities such as community engagement or other characteristics indicative of global citizenship. Europa Bursaries are open to all international* students and are worth a maximum of £3,000 per annum. They are available for each year of a student’s study programme, providing good progress is made by the recipient on their degree programme. Students are encouraged to apply at the time of submitting their application to study.
Parasol Scholarships
Parasol Scholarships are available for prospective Bachelors of Business Administration- Full time (BBA) students and are competitive and awarded for excellence, as determined by the Parasol Scholarships Selection Panel (‘the Selection Panel’). These scholarships are provided by The Parasol Foundation Trust and cover full course fees for three years of study. In the event the student applies for University accommodation, The Parasol Foundation Trust may also subsidise the cost of accommodation up to a maximum of £5,000 per student per year. Any such accommodation costs subsidy will be assessed on an individual basis.
HM Government of Gibraltar Scholarships
HM Government of Gibraltar Scholarships are available to British Citizens or other EU nationals who have ordinarily resided in Gibraltar continuously for five years. They are normally eligible to apply for either a ‘Mandatory’ or ‘Discretionary’ award offered by the (HM) Government of Gibraltar.
