Details
What is the Lumen Prize?
The Lumen Prize for Art and Technology is a global competition that celebrates the very best art created with digital processes. Our annual juried competition draws entries from artists worldwide and has given away more than US$80,000 in prize money since its launch in 2012. The competition is run by Lumen Art Projects, a not-for-profit based in the UK, which provides opportunities for longlisted, shortlisted and winning Lumen artists through its links with cultural venues, festivals and museums globally.
A bit of background Where we are from
The Lumen Prize and Lumen Arts Projects were founded by Carla Rapoport, a financial journalist who moved into arts management in 2010.
Carla’s goal is to widen the enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of art created with technology while widening the opportunities for artists working in this field globally. We are always eager to hear from new partners. Please contact us at info@lumenprize.com to start the ball rolling.
Success stories
We create opportunities for artists
Since its first show in London’s Cork Street back in 2013, Lumen has staged more than 45 exhibitions in venues across Asia, Europe and the US, as well as seminars, workshops and lectures. We work with a wide range of partners to create new audiences and opportunities for artists’ work, such as commissions, acquisitions, exhibitions and speaking engagements.
THE JUDGING
The judging of the Lumen Prize is done in two stages. The longlist is determined by our International Selectors Committee of curators, art specialists and academics. This longlist is then reviewed by an eminent Jury Panel, who select the finalists and winners.
The Jury Panel
The Lumen Prize upholds a rigorous, two-stage judging process. An esteemed International Selectors Committee meticulously curates a longlist of up to 70 exceptional artworks, identifying them as finalists. These finalists are then critically evaluated by a distinguished Jury Panel comprising influential figures in art, technology, and culture. Ultimately, the Jury Panel selects the winners, including the prestigious Lumen Prize Gold Award, celebrating groundbreaking artworks fusing creativity and innovation.
