Overview
The Snowdon Scholarship programme aims to give a small number of exceptionally talented disabled people an opportunity to achieve their true potential. Successful applicants will receive our financial support and encouragement to help them excel in a Masters degree course that will make a difference to both their own futures and to the lives of others. We hope Snowdon Scholarship students will go on to become leaders in their fields and be great examples for others to follow.

How to apply
Please note: You cannot apply directly to Snowdon Trust. You must first apply through one of our partner universities for admission to an eligible Masters programmes. Scholarships will only be open to students who receive a place offer.
The Snowdon Masters Scholarship has been designed to identify and accelerate talented disabled students through higher education, creating the influencers of the future.
We are looking for individuals with the ability to create change and influence others. This could include excellence within a chosen field of study, or the ability to demonstrate leadership more widely through the workplace or extracurricular activities.

All Snowdon Masters Scholars are encouraged to become part of our Disabled Leaders Network. A space for collaboration, engagement and debate, the Disabled Leaders Network will provide a platform for you to build relationships with other exceptional disabled leaders, creating a hub of information, knowledge and support.

About Us
We provide grants to physically disabled and sensory impaired students studying in the UK – in further or higher education or those training towards employment.
Our Grants help cover additional costs that students incur as a result of their disability and where available statutory funding does not cover them. Costs include vital support such as sign language interpreters, people to take notes, computers, specialist software, wheelchairs or special accommodation and equipment.
About 100 grants are awarded each year, ranging from £250 to £3,000. Applications are reviewed by our Selection Panel. The panel is made up of both disabled and non-disabled people who have knowledge and understanding of a wide range of disabilities – from sight and hearing impairments to paralysis, cerebral palsy, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, joint and bone diseases and lupus.
Besides giving financial grants, the trust also takes an active interest in individuals, offering encouragement to students during their studies and beyond. We also take disability issues very seriously. We try to keep them on the agenda of both the Government and institutions; we collect data, respond to consultations and ask the ‘difficult questions’.

Description of Ideal Candidate
Each candidate will bring something different to the programme. Successful candidates will demonstrate that they have some or all of the following attributes:
- Exceptional leaders, with the ability to create change within and beyond their academic field
- Individuals that have shown excellence within their chosen subjects
- Those that have demonstrated leadership potential with a proven drive for success
- Ability to create change and drive disability issues
- Proven achievements in academia, employment or voluntary activities
The Snowdon Trust are searching for applicants who can communicate their aspiration to become an exceptional leader, a role model, or a pioneer in their area of expertise. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate how the scholarship will create profound impact on their current circumstances, future influences, and opportunities. This includes how the Scholarship will support them as a Disabled Person to overcome barriers inflicted by society, including attitudinal, physical, social, emotional and many more.
We know that leaders often take unique career paths – we welcome applications from students who have recently completed an undergraduate course, and from those returning to study from the workplace or following a career break.
The scholarship is open to national and international disabled students with the ability to create change, including excellence within a chosen field of study, or the ability to demonstrate leadership through the workplace or extracurricular activities.

Cost/funding for participants
We want to attract the very best students to the scheme so our generous scholarships include:
- Fee funding of up to £15,000 p.a. for a one or two-year UK Masters course, plus
- Most (but not all) of our scholarships also include a further generous allowance towards your costs whilst studying.
