Overview

The Women's Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong. We aspire to conduct groundbreaking research, to run innovative and impactful community programmes and we engage in education and advocacy.

Details

TWF offers a limited number of internships every year to individuals with an interest in learning about gender issues in the local and global context and who are passionate about helping us further our mission at The Women’s Foundation. Internships with TWF are in high demand and places are limited.

We offer our interns a specially tailored programme which takes into account different abilities and interests to maximise the benefits of the experience for both the individual and TWF. Interns are assigned a TWF mentor who design and agree on the content of the internship, with a structured timeline and regular progress assessments.

Interns may work on one of, or a combination of, the following areas:

Fundraising & Development

Responsibilities may include researching international and local foundations, grant programmes and other possible sources of funds, writing grant applications, organising and executing fundraising and donor cultivation events. This will particularly suit interns looking to understand the fundraising and donor development function at an NGO and to gain some event management experience.

Research & Communications

Responsibilities may include reviewing published research and articles on women’s and gender issues, conducting primary and/or secondary research, writing and editing pieces for TWF’s website and other communication channels, and working on campaigns to advocate for brighter prospects for women and girls. This will particularly suit interns who are capable in, and confident of, undertaking research and writing projects in English, and who are looking to understand the advocacy and communications function at an NGO.

Community Programmes

Responsibilities may include programme design and implementation, including research, liaison with TWF’s programme partners encompassing other NGOs to academics to the Government to corporate sponsors, attending Programme events from in-class lessons to workshops to NGO visits, and hands on logistical and administrative support. This will particularly suit interns who are fluent in English and Cantonese, who are interested in social work, and who are looking to understand the community outreach and programmes function at an NGO.
