Responsibilities
Interns will be responsible for the following duties:
- (a) translating into English, which must be the candidate’s main language, verbatim records of meetings from any of the official languages, for training and other purposes and subject to review;
- (b) transcribing or reviewing transcriptions;
- (c) assist with testing of technologies, including speech-to-text;
- (d) performing other related duties as required.

Education
Applicants at the time of the application meet one of the following requirements:
- a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in a) and b) above) and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Program. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Language
For the internship advertised, fluency in English, which must be the candidate's main language, and knowledge of another official language, are required. Knowledge of a third official language would be an asset. The official languages of the United Nations are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Cost/funding for participants
Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. The duration of the internship is between three to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis.
