Overview
The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) was inaugurated on 16 June 2006 as a regional institute of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and is located in Incheon, Republic of Korea. Guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other internationally agreed development goals, the Centre's objective is to build and strengthen the capacity of members and associate members of ESCAP to leverage information and communication (ICT) for the purpose of socio-economic development. APCICT's work is focused on training, knowledge sharing, and multi-stakeholder dialogue and partnership.
Details
Responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in drafting and preparing official documents.
- Attend and summarize conferences and meetings, including Expert Group meetings and workshops.
- Support organization of meetings and conferences.
- Assist data collection of ICT trends and policies.
- Conduct research and provide analysis on relevant issues.
- Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations etc.
- Monitor regional and global news sources for articles and stories relevant to ICT for development.
- Support implementation of projects.
- Assist in maintaining databases.
- Perform additional duties as may be required.

Description of Ideal Candidate
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, for the purpose of this internship, a keen interest in implement project and capacity building is a definite advantage.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Cost/funding for participants
The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT/ESCAP) internship is for a minimum period of 2 months with an opportunity for extension up to 6 months, depending on the needs of the department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
