Brief Role Description
Are you interested in metallic materials science and modern manufacturing technology? Would you like to make your contribution to a resource-saving and ecological mobility of tomorrow? Then our multidisciplinary team at Volkswagen Group Innovation is the right place for you. We conduct research for a sustainable future for all brands in the Volkswagen Group and examine the entire process chain, from material development to recycling. As part of your internship/bachelor thesis/master thesis, you will evaluate new materials for the use in vehicle bodies. You have access to a comprehensive materials laboratory and the opportunity to contribute and deepen your practical skills.
Possible Tasks within this Role

Characterize the materials using appropriate testing methods like tensile testing, hardness measurement

Perform FEM simulations for the forming processes

Evaluate the test results in collaboration with colleagues from the group

Estimate the applicability of new steel materials for automotive application

Prepare the results and presenting them in internal meetings

Qualification requirements

Students majoring in materials science, surface technology, mechanical engineering or comparable courses

Knowledge of materials and materials testing, especially in steels as well as sheet metal forming and FEM Simulation of metal forming processes

Good to very good academic performance

Quick comprehension/ high commitment /precise and conscientious work and willingness to communicate with colleagues from all disciplines

German or English language level B2
