Overview
International Film Festival Rotterdam is the biggest ticketed cultural event in The Netherlands. During the 12-day festival, hundreds of films are shown on more than twenty screens in Rotterdam. To make this great event possible, IFFR works with over 1000 volunteers in many different roles. The coming edition of the festival will take place between 30 Jan – 9 Feb 2025.

You can sign up to volunteer by filling in the online registration form. If you have volunteered with us before, you will receive an email invitation to re-apply for the upcoming edition. As we’re currently still assessing the amount of help needed for the upcoming event, we would like to invite new volunteers to apply for our reserve list. As soon as we have more information on any openings for this year, we’ll get in touch with you to schedule an orientation meeting.
Each volunteer at IFFR will become part of one of our teams. We have volunteers helping out across all departments: from marketing to production and from catering to hosting roles. Please refer to the information on the following pages for more information about the various positions:

If this is your first time volunteering, we will invite you for an informal introductory meeting to discuss the different teams and volunteering opportunities. If you’ve worked with us before, we’ll assign your role based on your application form and prior experience. Should there be any changes from last year, we’ll be sure to get in touch with you to check in first.
Once a team has filled up, we’ll announce it on the website. Please note that for IFFR 2025 not all teams may return and the roles on the pages mentioned above are still subject to change.
You will, however, still be able to sign up for the reserve list.

Description of Ideal Candidate
In order to volunteer at IFFR, you’ll need to:
- Be 18 years or over
- Have a good understanding of either the Dutch or English language
- Have an EU passport or Dutch residence permit
The majority of your shifts will be during the festival itself. However, depending on the position you’ll fill, there might be additional shifts scheduled before the festival or after.
We expect all volunteers to make their own arrangements in terms of travel and accommodation. Unfortunately we’re not able to cover any expenses at this point.

Cost/funding for participants
We’d like to ask volunteers to sign up in the spirit of supporting the festival. Now, more than ever, we’ll need your help in carrying out the vision of IFFR and in providing a platform for stories and voices from all over the world.
