Overview
The Evans Scholars Foundation is a charitable trust that provides full, four-year tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies. The Foundation is overseen by the Western Golf Association, which also runs four prestigious golf tournaments, including the BMW Championship.
Details
The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. To qualify, caddies must meet the requirements of having a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character.
Scholarship applications are accepted at the beginning of an applicant’s senior year of high school, as well as from college freshmen.
The entire application – including supporting documents like evaluations, recommendation letters, transcripts, test scores, a CSS profile and FAFSA information – are expected to be completed by October 30. The Scholarship Committee will begin its review when the application is complete. The Committee will interview finalists, and the final selection rests with the Committee. All decisions will be finalized by April 1.

Application Timeline
- Aug. 1: Application available online. Review the information on the website.
- Oct. 1: CSS Financial Aid Profile becomes available. Please complete the 2025-26 CSS Profile online at cssprofile.collegeboard.org/ and submit to CSS along with the required fee as soon as possible. The Evans Scholars Foundation CSS code is 0153.
- Oct. 15: Applications are expected to be completed, including all supporting documents (completed CSS Profile, High School Evaluation, Caddie Evaluation, letters of recommendation, high school transcript and test scores).
- December: Complete the 2025-26 FAFSA at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa when it becomes available on or before December 1, 2024. Email or mail to the Scholarship Committee a copy of the 2025-26 FAFSA Submission Summary with the Student Aid Index (SAI) from the completed FAFSA on or before January 15th.
- April 1: All application decisions are finalized.

Description of Ideal Candidate
- Strong caddie record: Applicants must have caddied, successfully and regularly, for a minimum of two years and are also expected to caddie and/or work at their sponsoring club during the summer when they apply for the scholarship.
- Excellent academics: Applicants must have completed their junior year of high school with above a B average in college preparatory courses and are required to take the ACT and/or SAT.
- Demonstrated financial need: Applicants must clearly establish their need for financial assistance.
- Outstanding character: Applicants must be outstanding in character, integrity and leadership.
