Create a one minute video that addresses one of this year’s global topics, suggests a sustainable solution, and connects how human population growth impacts that topic.

Details

Taking on these complex challenges and finding solutions will require understanding, cooperation and creativity.

All videos must include:

  1. How population growth impacts the issue
  2. At least one idea for a sustainable solution.

Consider narrowing your focus by concentrating on a subtheme within your topic. Possible subthemes include:

  • Promoting Environmental Justice – Food deserts, climate migrants, placement of hazardous waste sites, effects of the fossil fuel industry, redlining, mistreatment of indigenous peoples and land, environmental racism
  • Strengthening Global Health – Access to health care, pandemics and emergency response, disease spread (zoonotic and vector-borne), maternal health, sanitation, health effects of environmental pollution
  • Re-Imagining Industrial Systems – Procurement of raw materials, waste management, brownfields/CAFOs, energy production, production/distribution of consumer goods, occupational health and safety

Description of Ideal Candidate

  • Any middle or high school student can apply (grade 6-12, or the international equivalent) is free to enter. Students may be located anywhere in the world.
  • Students may work together in groups or submit entries as individuals.
  • The length of the video should not exceed 60 seconds (one minute), not including the 10 second title screen.
